ABOUT Me

Casey Neelakant employs traditional Vedic astrological techniques with the Tropical Zodiac and sidereal Nakshatras

"The core of my practice is based on the Sanskrit texts Bṛhat Parāśara Horā Śāstra and Tājikanīlakanthī."

"For chart assessment, I employ Whole Sign Houses, the Tropical Zodiac, and Sidereal Nakshatras with a Revati-based ayanamsa called Dhruva Galactic Center Mid-Mula."

"To the most significant degree I follow the interpretations and teachings of Ernst Wilhelm in this regard. Though deeply aligned with the Vedic tradition, I am well versed in classical Hellenistic and modern Western Astrology; deriving much insight from John Sandbach's degree focused methods and Jeffrey Wolf Green's Evolutionary school of thought in regards to the latter."

"My Philosophy shuns predictive fatalism and fully embraces the ability of the human Soul to change habits, shift timelines, and be re-established in Sovereignty and Purpose."

Field of Study

Vedic Astrology

Vedic astrology, also known as Jyotish, is an ancient system of astrology originating from the Indian subcontinent. Rooted in the sacred texts of the Vedas, this time-honored tradition offers a comprehensive framework for understanding the cosmic influences on human life. Unlike Western astrology, which primarily focuses on the position of the Sun at the time of birth, Vedic astrology considers the positions of all celestial bodies, including the Moon and planets, as well as lunar nodes known as Rahu and Ketu.

At its core, Vedic astrology seeks to uncover the karmic patterns and spiritual evolution of individuals, providing insights into past, present, and future events. Through precise calculations and interpretations, Vedic astrologers analyze birth charts, or "kundalis," to reveal one's unique strengths, weaknesses, and life path. This holistic approach to astrology encompasses various branches, including predictive astrology, relationship compatibility, remedial measures, and timing of significant life events.

Central to Vedic astrology is the concept of "dharma," or cosmic law, which emphasizes the interconnectedness of all beings and the importance of aligning with one's true purpose. By understanding the cosmic forces at play, individuals can navigate life's challenges with clarity and wisdom, fostering personal growth and spiritual fulfillment.

In essence, Vedic astrology serves as a profound tool for self-discovery, guidance, and transformation, offering invaluable insights into the intricate dance between the celestial and terrestrial realms.

Sanskrit

Sanskrit, often referred to as the "language of the gods," is one of the oldest and most sacred languages in the world. Rooted in ancient India, Sanskrit holds a revered place in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism, serving as the medium for the transmission of profound spiritual and philosophical teachings. Characterized by its precise grammar, rich vocabulary, and intricate phonetics, Sanskrit is renowned for its elegance and sophistication. Its script, Devanagari, is adorned with graceful curves and intricate symbols, reflecting the divine origins of the language.

Beyond its linguistic beauty, Sanskrit is imbued with profound spiritual significance. Many of the ancient scriptures, including the Vedas, Upanishads, and Bhagavad Gita, were composed in Sanskrit, making it the language of sacred texts and rituals. Today, Sanskrit continues to be studied and revered for its role in preserving ancient knowledge and wisdom. From traditional chants and mantras to modern literature and scientific terminology, Sanskrit's influence extends far and wide, bridging the gap between ancient tradition and contemporary knowledge. In essence, Sanskrit is more than just a language; it is a living link to India's rich cultural heritage and spiritual legacy, embodying the timeless wisdom of the ages.

Irish Gaelic

Irish Gaelic, often simply referred to as "Gaeilge," is a Celtic language native to Ireland. Rooted in ancient Gaelic culture and traditions, Irish Gaelic has a rich linguistic heritage that spans over two millennia. With its unique sounds, poetic cadence, and lyrical phrases, Irish Gaelic is a language steeped in both history and beauty. As the indigenous language of Ireland, Irish Gaelic holds a special place in the hearts of the Irish people, serving as a symbol of cultural identity and resilience. Despite centuries of colonization and suppression, the language has persevered, thanks to the dedication of countless individuals and organizations committed to its revival and preservation.

Today, Irish Gaelic is experiencing a resurgence, with increasing numbers of people across Ireland and around the world eager to learn and embrace their linguistic heritage. From vibrant Gaelic-speaking communities in the Gaeltacht regions of Ireland to enthusiasts in distant lands seeking to reconnect with their roots, Irish Gaelic continues to thrive as a living language.

Beyond its cultural significance, Irish Gaelic is a window into Ireland's rich literary tradition, with centuries-old manuscripts, poems, and songs written in the language. Whether reciting ancient myths, singing traditional ballads, or engaging in everyday conversation, speaking Irish Gaelic

is a celebration of Ireland's past, present, and future. In essence, Irish Gaelic is more than just a language; it is a testament to the resilience and spirit of the Irish people, a living link to their ancestral past, and a vibrant expression of their cultural heritage.

I have lived in the Donegal Gaeltacht and spent a good few days (and nights!) with resurgent Irish speakers in lovely Belfast.  I'm quite literate and fairly well read in Ulster Irish literature.  I don't know if I'll ever consider myself fluent, but I did write and record a record album all in Irish.
